Looney Tunes is a generic name for an American animated series of comedy short films produced by Warner Bros. from 1930 to 1969 during the golden age of American animation. They were known for introducing such famous cartoon characters as Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Elmer Fudd, Tweety, Sylvester, Yosemite Sam, Foghorn Leghorn, Marvin the Martian, Pepé Le Pew, Speedy Gonzales, Tasmanian Devil, the Road Runner, Wile E. Coyote and many others. These shorts go by the brand of either Looney Tunes or Merrie Melodies.

Warner Bros. cartoons have appeared on ITV since the network was first launched, and continued onto CITV until the license to broadcast these shorts on British television was acquired by BBC in 2000.
