Jamie and the Magic Torch is a British children's drama animated television series, made by Cosgrove Hall Productions for Thames Television and originally shown on ITV from 1976 to 1979. It was shown again in the 1980s to a new generation of children. The series was written and narrated by Brian Trueman, who later wrote shows such as Danger Mouse and Count Duckula, and Kate Murray-Henderson as the voice of Jamie's Mother and the character Nutmeg. The cartoon was mostly shown at 12:00, but the second series was transmitted at 4:00 on Children's ITV from 8 July 1986 to 30 September 1986.
Only the first two series were released on DVD in the UK, but the complete series is available in a 3-disc set in Australia. The series has a strong cult following due to its retro music, psychedelic colours and memorable character designs.
